Pig slaughter in 2024 reached 57.6 million head, an increase of 1.3% compared to the 56.9 million head consolidated in 2023.
Pork production in 2024 grew by 1.1% over the previous year, going from 5.27 to 5.33 million tons (Mt).
Imports reached 3,528 tons (t), a decrease of 27.8% compared to 2023 (4,887 t).
Pork salted or in brine (55.8%), frozen pork offal (28.2%), and pork fat (10.6%) accounted for 94.6% of imports in 2024.
In 2024, exports increased 9.5% over the previous year, going from 1.20 Mt to 1.32 Mt.
Frozen pork (84.6%), pork offal (7.6%), and bone-in hams and shoulders (3.9%) accounted for 96.2% of total exports for the year.
Apparent consumption reached 4.01 Mt, representing a drop of 1.5% compared to 2023, while per capita consumption was estimated at 18.9 kg per inhabitant per year.
