The German pig producers' association, ISN, has published the ranking of the country's leading slaughterhouses in 2023.

After the already significant reduction in the number of slaughterings in 2022, German slaughterhouses again had to adjust to significantly lower figures in 2023. The top ten pig slaughterhouses slaughtered 6.2% less than in the previous year. The decline was even greater for the remaining companies at 9.9%. As a result of these developments, the top 10 slaughterhouses now account for 82.5% of slaughterings.

Tönnies remains the undisputed leader in the ranking of the leading pig slaughterhouses, with 13.99 million pigs slaughtered in 2023. In second place is the cooperative company Westfleisch, which was largely able to counteract the trend of a sharp fall in the overall market in 2023 (6.50 million pigs slaughtered). The Vion slaughterhouse still holds third place in the ranking, but the gap between them and them and second place is growing (5.30 million pigs slaughtered).
