Argentina: Pork production decreases in first quarter

Cumulative pork production in the first quarter of 2024 reached 164,373 tons (t), a decrease of 7.8% compared to the same period of 2023.
In March, 57,178 t were recorded, representing a drop of 12.6% compared to the same month of 2023 (65,384 t) and an increase of 10.8% compared to February.
The average carcass weights for March indicate an overall average of 89 kg bone-in carcass, which represents a decrease of 4.3% compared to the same month of the previous year and is 1 kg higher than in February. The hog and immunocastrated male categories recorded weights of 88 and 91 kg respectively.
