Global pork consumption expected to increase 7.2% by 2030

Total global meat consumption (beef, pork, and chicken) is forecast to increase by 9.6% in the next 7 years, going from 327 million tons (Mt) in 2023 to 358.4 Mt by the end of 2030.

Between 2023 and 2030, global beef consumption is expected to increase 7.3% with a volume of 80.2 Mt while global poultry consumption is expected to see a 13.2% increase with 147.5 Mt.

Global pork consumption is expected to reach 131 Mt in 2030, an increase of 7.2% compared to 2023.

Pork consumption in Vietnam and the United States is expected to increase by 28.3% and 11.7% respectively. In China and Russia, consumption is expected to increase by 5.8% and 4.5%, respectively. A 3.9% decrease is expected for the European Union, with pork consumption going from 18.4 Mt in 2023 to 17.7 Mt in 2030.

In 2030, Latin America is expected to see a 14.2% growth in pork consumption compared to 2023, reaching 10.7 Mt.

For Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, the leading countries in the region, consumption volumes are projected to reach 3.5, 3.0, and 1 Mt in 2030. Compared to 2023, this represents growth of 10.6%, 13.5%, and 27.6%, respectively.

For Central America and the Caribbean, total pork consumption is estimated at 1 Mt by 2030, representing an increase of 19% compared to the 2023 estimate.
