Canadian warehouses held 43,713 metric tons of pork, up from 38,055 tons a year earlier, Statistics Canada, a government agency, reported. Pork exports fell 4.7 percent in 2009 through August from a year earlier, according to agency figures.

Canada’s hog herd declined 7.3 percent to 11.82 million animals by Oct. 1, down from 12.745 million a year earlier, as low prices led some producers to exit the business, StatsCan said.
