Cuba gives green light to Colombian pork

To achieve this important milestone, negotiations were held with Cenasa representatives who visited different departments of Colombia in November 2022 to initiate the audit and verification process with the purpose of authorizing Colombian facilities for the export of pork. As a result of these visits and various meetings between the sanitary authorities, the green light was given for exports.

The model sanitary certificate agreed upon for the export of these products sets out the requirements established to avoid adverse effects on the sanitary status of the importing country and the health of consumers. These requirements include the following:

• The respective sanitary movement certificate for the animals from which the pork was derived was presented upon animal arrival at the authorized processing plant. The animals were transported directly from the farm of origin to the processing plant in a previously washed and disinfected vehicle, without having contact with other animals with inferior sanitary conditions for export.
• The animals from which the pork is derived come from farms located in zones, regions, or compartments recognized by the World Organisation for Animal Health as free of classical swine fever.
• The pork has been obtained and prepared without coming into contact with other meats that do not meet the conditions required for export.

Currently, Colombia is authorized to export pork to countries such as Macao, Ghana, and Singapore.
