U.S: Long-term projections for pork production and consumption

- Pork production is forecast to reach 14 million tons (Mt) in 2032, representing a growth of 11.7% over the estimated total for 2021.
- Between 2021 and 2032, beef and poultry production are expected to grow by 0.5% and 17.1% respectively, with volumes reaching 12.8 and 23.6 Mt.
- Compared to other proteins, pork will grow at a much higher rate than beef, although it will be surpassed by the growth of poultry production.
- From 2023 onwards, pork production is expected to exceed beef production, widening the gap between the two proteins year after year. In 2032, 1.25 Mt more pork is expected to be produced than beef.
- Per capita consumption of pork is expected to increase the most in the period from 2021 - 2032 (+10.2%), reaching 25.5 kg/inhabitant in 2032, followed by chicken (+9.7%) and turkey (+1.3%) with consumption reaching 48.1 and 7 kg/inhabitant at the end of the period, respectively.
- Consumption decreases are expected in beef (-5.8%), veal (-50%), and lamb (-7.1%), which in 2032 are forecast to be 25.2, 0.04, and 0.6 kg/inhabitant, respectively.
