Brazil: Mato Grosso do Sul's foot-and-mouth disease-free status will have positive effects on the pork sector

Mato Grosso do Sul will have FMD-free status without vaccination as of 2023, after completing the last step to obtain the title from the Ministry of Agriculture in November this year. According to the latest PNEFA (National FMD Surveillance Program) survey, Mato Grosso do Sul's beef cattle immunization campaign this year will be the last before certification by national and international health authorities.

FMD-free area status without vaccination for the state, starting in 2023, will also ensure that the state's swine industry gains and expands markets for pork.
