Brazil: Pork exports grow in October

Pork exports (considering all products, including fresh and processed) reached 99.1 thousand tons in October, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). This is up 11.9% from October of 2020, when 88.5 thousand tons were exported. The value of exports in October reached US$ 217.9 million, 9.3% higher than the US$ 199.4 million for the same period last year.

The cumulative sales of pork for the year are close to 1 million tons. Between January and October, 967,900 tons were shipped, 13.4% more than the first ten months of 2020, with 853,400 tons. The balance is also significantly positive in terms of export revenues, reaching US$ 2.279 billion, performing 21.5% higher than in January to October of last year, with US$ 1.876 billion.

China is still the leading destination for pork exports, with total imports of 481,900 tons between January and October, a volume 13.9% higher than the same period last year. Other important markets are Chile, with 52,500 tons (+56.5%), Japan, with 11,300 tons (+19.1%), and the USA, with 9,700 tons (+43.4%).
