On September 25, an outbreak of classical swine fever (CSF) occurred on a pig farm with 5,390 head in Takasaki City. The Gunma Livestock Hygiene Service Centre(LHSC) tested the samples which were found positive for CSF, and all animals on the farm were culled. This is the first confirmed case of the disease in domestic pigs in about six months.

Specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries are investigating the cause of infection.
