Situation of ASF in China

On August 3rd, the first emergence of ASF in Shenyang (Liaoning) was confirmed. As of October 9th, China has notified 29 outbreaks in 18 different towns in 8 provinces (autonomous regions), including Liaoning, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia and Jilin. Among them, 8 in Anhui, 8 in Liaoning, 4 in Inner Mongolia, 2 in Henan, Jiangsu, Heilongjiang and Jilin, and 1 in Zhejiang. The genetic sequence of the virus that is causing the outbreaks is highly homologous with the strains that currently circulate in Eastern Europe and Russia.
