African Swine Fever detected in the Czech Republic for the first time

The WOAH has reported the presence of African swine fever virus (ASF) in a wild boar found dead in the Želechovice forest, in the region of Zlín. This is the first notification of the disease in the country.

Samples for African swine fever (ASF) testing were collected from the wild boar found dead and sent to the National Veterinary Research Institute (Reference Laboratory) within the framework of the national ASF surveillance programme.
