The New DanAvl Structure in Place

The new DanAvl (the Danish pig producers’ breeding system), is being established with The Danish Agriculture & Food Council, DanBred International A/S and Danish Agro as owners. The company DanAvl is expected to be operational from 1 August 2016 and will be in the planning stage until then.

The reinforced competitiveness on the world market has been decisive for entering into the circle of owners, says the chairman of The Danish Agriculture & Food Council, Pig Production, Erik Larsen.
 

• With the new structure we increase the yield of Danish pig genetics for the benefit of both owners, Danish pig producers, but also for customers around the world. The agreement will contribute to competitiveness and will benefit the Danish pig producers. Therefore, this agreement is both favorable and necessary, says Erik Larsen.

The new CEO Thomas Muurmann Henriksen previously held the position of CEO of DanBred International. The chairman is Andreas Lundby, former Deputy CEO of Arla Foods Ltd.

• Basically the new DanAvl introduces a new business model creating a coherent value chain. Thus is created a new international breeding company, says Thomas Muurmann Henriksen.

It is expected that DanAvl may grow considerably in the export market with the new owners. Specifically, the new structure means that in the future all production is made on the basis of license production agreements with DanAvl and that the company will handle future sales directly or through agents and partners. The owners of DanAvl emphasize the importance of ensuring that the structure meets the competition rules.

In connection with the establishment, the new DanAvl is buying SPF Denmark’s activities in DanAvl relating to DanAvl genetics.
